To assist the design team in producing high quality, functional designs.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Use CAD to assist in producing design packages for a variety of project types
  • Visit job sites if required to take measurements and create as-built drawings
  • Research codes and bylaws as required to apply to designs
  • Research products and construction components with reference to designs as required
  • Continuous learning and skill development of design and drafting products, software, and hardware.
  • Participate with senior and intermediate designers in coordinating with Engineers, Architects, and consultants on designs
  • Work closely with senior and intermediate designers to send out drawings at specific milestones, following review and submission procedures
  • Answer questions from the Project Management team, superintendents, or foreman on designs during construction phase if required.
  • Create sketches, or revisions to drawings during construction phase if required.
  • Assist in creating and assembling large format drawing prints for clients and construction trades
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Work experience in the construction or engineering industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of AutoDesk products such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and codes an asset
  • Planning and time management skills is an asset

 

Working conditions

Compensation for this position is based on qualifications and experience, and is based on a 40-hour work week.  Overtime may be required based on workload and project deadlines.
