Excavation Civil Foreman Job Description 

Reports to: Excavation Manager 

Position Overview: 
The Excavation Civil Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing job sites, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of excavation tasks. This includes supervising drivers, operators, and labor crews, maintaining equipment, ensuring crew safety, and upholding the highest standards of work performance and finished products. The Excavation Civil Foreman works closely with the Excavation Manager and serves as a team leader and member within the organization. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Jobsite Operations:

• Oversee daily operations on assigned job sites, ensuring tasks are performed in a timely and professional manner. 

• Supervise drivers, equipment operators, and laborers to ensure efficiency and safety. 

• Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and equipment checks to ensure compliance with safety protocols. 

• Prepare and organize necessary tools, equipment, and materials for crews each day. 

• Address and report any problems, unusual situations, or potential hazards to the Excavation Manager promptly. 

2. Equipment and Crew Management:

• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, operational, and ready for use. 

• Fill out and submit daily safety and equipment inspection sheets. 

• Monitor and evaluate crew performance, providing guidance and support as needed. 

• Uphold company policies and procedures on all job sites. 

3. Quality Assurance and Leadership:

• Set and maintain high standards for work performance and the finished product of every task. 

• Ensure all work complies with job requirements as outlined in foreman folders and work orders. 

• Work collaboratively as a team leader, fostering a positive and productive work environment. 

• Report work-related or personal issues within the organization to the Excavation Manager. 

4. Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure all team members adhere to company policies, employee handbook guidelines, and safety regulations. 

• Maintain a safe and organized worksite, addressing any safety concerns immediately. 

• Ensure compliance with all excavation and construction requirements. 

Performance Standards: 

• Timely Execution: All heavy equipment work and installations must be performed promptly and professionally to meet job requirements outlined in work orders. 

• Problem Resolution: Unusual or challenging situations should be promptly escalated to management or the CEO for resolution. 

• Compliance: Ensure all assigned team members comply with company policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures. 

• Leadership: Set the standard for foremen and crews, demonstrating accountability and excellence in overseeing work and equipment performance. 

• Customer Satisfaction: Maintain the highest standards of cooperation, production, and client satisfaction on all projects. 

Qualifications: 

Education and Experience: 

• Proven experience in excavation, heavy equipment operation, or related construction roles. 

• Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred. 

Skills and Competencies: 

• Strong leadership and team management abilities. 

• Knowledge of excavation tools, equipment, and techniques. 

• Proficiency in safety protocols and regulations related to excavation work. 

• Excellent organizational and communication skills. 

Certifications (Preferred): 

• OSHA Safety Certification. 

• Heavy Equipment Operator Certification. 

• First Aid and CPR Certification. 

Work Environment: 

• Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. 

• Exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and physical labor.
