(Educational Supplement: Masters $1.60/hour; PhD $3.19/hour)

As an instructor you will be teaching adult learners who are working toward their Mature High School Diploma and be committed to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that promote student success. Reporting to the Director, Centre for Adult Learning, you will develop and deliver curriculum, evaluate student performance, and engage in various administrative functions. Courses taught will be delivered through a combination of in-person, synchronous online, and flexible (flex) learning from Monday through Friday between 8:30am – 4:00pm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach one or more Manitoba Senior Years English Language Arts courses (ELA 20S, ELA 30S, and/or ELA 40S) as assigned.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging instruction that meets Manitoba curriculum outcomes.
  • Deliver instruction using a variety of teaching modalities, including in-person, synchronous online, and Flexible (Flex) learning.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that supports adult learner success.
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and course documentation.
  • Maintain and update assigned Moodle course(s), including learning materials, assessments, gradebook, and communication with students.
  • Standardized course outlines and Moodle course shells are provided to support instructional consistency across the Centre for Adult Learning.
  • Collaborate with Student Success Advisors, administration, and colleagues to support student success.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum activities, and professional learning opportunities as required.
  • Maintain high academic expectations while supporting diverse learner needs. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor of Education.
  • Qualifications and demonstrated experience teaching Manitoba Senior Years English Language Arts.
  • Experience teaching adult learners is considered an asset.
  • Experience delivering instruction in face-to-face, synchronous online, and flexible learning environments is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using educational technology, including learning management systems such as Moodle.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, and student success.
  • Are committed to contributing to a collaborative teaching team focused on student success.
