The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood is seeking a motivated individual interested in building a career in municipal water and wastewater operations.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision and direction of certified operators while learning the operation and maintenance of municipal water and wastewater facilities, distribution systems, and collection systems. The Municipality will support the successful candidate through the required training and certification progression for these systems.
This role is well suited to someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and interested in developing a long-term career in municipal utilities.
This is an Operator-in-Training opportunity. Applicants are not expected to already hold the certifications listed below; however, the successful candidate will be expected to work toward them with support from the Municipality. The Municipality will pay for approved training, courses, exam fees, and certification-related costs required for the successful candidate to progress toward the certifications needed for the municipal utility systems.
The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in training, write required certification exams, and make reasonable progress toward the operator certifications required for the Municipality’s facilities and systems. Training milestones and wage progression will be reviewed with the successful candidate as part of the Municipality’s supported certification pathway.
A competitive trainee wage will be offered based on qualifications and experience. The Municipality will provide training support, certification progression opportunities, a comprehensive benefits package, pension participation, and a supportive learning environment.
